ABOUT THE INFO LIST

THE INFO LIST has been created for the purpose of sharing useful and helpful entertainment industry related information, including jobs and other opportunities, industry events, seminars, screenings, and parties, casting information for actors and models, and anything else that I think people in the industry (or trying to get in the industry) would want to know. Its whole reason for being is to help people, and to give back. The general rule for sending something out to the Info List is that it should be perceived as an opportunity by the receiver (i.e., paid job, networking event or informational seminar, party, high profile screening, etc.) as opposed to a solicitation (“come help ME get famous by attending MY showcase or seeing MY film,” or “Please invest in my film,” etc.) Because of the huge influx of those type of requests, I have created a section on the website for member events and other postings – however, those still can’t get sent out as an email.

I strongly encourage Info List users to sign up for the e-mail, and not just look at the website periodically – many of the postings are very time sensitive, and by the time you get around to looking at the website, you’ll most likely have missed the boat. Getting the news hot off the press and directly into your inbox will put you ahead of the game and give you the jump on everyone else!

HOW DID THE INFO LIST START?

THE INFO LIST began somewhere around the beginning of 2000, but back then it wasn’t really the Info List. It was just me helping a few friends who were out of work to get a job by letting them know when I’d see a good help wanted ad in the classified section of the trades, or letting an actor friend know when I heard about a good casting opportunity. Just being a good friend and trying to help a few people. Before I knew it, I was letting more and more people know about more things, and I was starting to hear about even more things because of all the networking I was doing, and then people started asking me to put them on my email list to let them know about things. Then people at well established companies started asking me to let my list know when they were hiring. Once I had built up a bit of a list, people started asking me to help promote their events, because I knew so many good industry people, and that led to me putting on my own events. And now most, if not all, of my content is no longer found by scanning the trades for help wanted ads, but exclusive opportunities submitted to me directly by those hiring. Up until the launch of this website, everyone on the Info List was someone I had either met in person, or was a personal referral from someone I knew, and the list had grown to almost 7,000 people (yes, 7,000 of my closest friends!) Since the Info List had grown to the point where I could barely keep up with all the requests to be added, and all the requests for postings, etc., it was time to do something, as the time requirement was becoming a full time job in itself (in addition to my other full time job as a composer of music for film, television, and video games, and my other other full time job as a film producer, and my other other other job as an event producer/promoter), and of course, ALWAYS leaving some time for FUN (most important!). In order to keep the List going, I decided to create this website to not only automate some of the processes, but at the same time expand the opportunities to more people, with more types of information.

HOW DO YOU HAVE TIME TO DO ALL THIS?

I don’t. But I do anyways. And as long as people keep appreciating it, I’ll keep doing it! Besides, who needs to sleep?

CAN I FORWARD INFO LIST EMAILS OR POST THEM ON OTHER WEBSITES?

Information posted on this website and the corresponding emails may be forwarded to as many people as you’d like – the more the merrier (the whole purpose of this is to help people!) – the only requirement is that the email or posting MUST be copied in its entirety, including any introductory wording from me, and including any advertising.
