Topanga Canyon Blvd, Canoga Park, CA, the Coalition of Songwriter & Music Organizations ( COSMO ) will present another in a series of “Topanga Canyon Music” nights featuring top talent from the indie music scene. Networking for early arrivals, 6pm and music starts near 7pm. If time allows, an “END OF NIGHT” jam may ensue. Last month we had Alan Roy Scott, D. Whitney Quinn, Tim Quail, Michael Cramer, David Cramer, McCrea and a few more solid songwriters join the featured guests on stage after the show for a few jam numbers. Deep Fried Bubblegum is a Los Angeles-based acoustic act steeped in southern country and blues roots with a pop flavor. They enthusiastically refer to their musical style as “Organic Soul”. With an engaging pop sound, their music covers diverse forms such as blues, country, bluegrass, rockabilly, rock and roll, and rhythm and blues.
Musically, Deep Fried Bubblegum is instantly identifiable with blistering male-female harmony vocals and lyrics that range from fun and lighthearted to emotional but always upbeat. Even better is that Deep Fried Bubblegum appeals to a very diverse range of ages, cultures, and musical tastes. The backbone of their appeal is the musical and personal honesty in the music.

Wicked Saints‘ debut CD was partly recorded and produced by Annie Miles at Milestone Recording & Post in Los Angeles, and the rest recorded at David Vidal’s studio, Wilmac Studio by Max Vidal, and mixed by David Williams at Melrose Music Studios. We’re a Los Angeles based americana and folk/rock band, put together by frontman/singer-songwriter, Paul McCarty. Each member of the band, however, is a great singer-songwriter in his/her own right.
Paul McCarty sings lead, and plays guitar and harmonica. Son of a music professor dad and a singer mom, and originally from New Orleans, Paul carried his southern roots to Los Angeles armed with a degree in music theory and composition, and a background in classical guitar. For a while Paul did orchestral and electronic scores for indie movies. One such is “In A Strange City” from Taiwan.
Getting back to guitar and just writing songs reignited his passion for music. He plays solo a lot in addition to band gigs. Paul also plays guitar for Marc Platt, R.J. Chesney and others. And in addition to music, Paul is an accomplished graphic designer. He designed the album art and this site
John Gannon, Wicked Saints’ drummer, gives the band a real range of character, from a cool groove with a light touch, or a train-beat, even a strong Bonhamesque beat.
But hand him a guitar and he’ll tell you a story of his own. Honed from years of campfire singing, John brings a great energy to the microphone and holds your attention. John’s narratives might leave you laughing or bring a tear to a glass eye.
